Global Goals Illumination

This month, people from all walks of life will celebrate
the Global Goals in more than 100 locations across the world! 
Join us in downtown Atlanta for a FREE community event
and interfaith gathering to explore how the United Nations'
2015 Sustainable Development Goals affect human rights.
Learn what businesses, schools and communities can do to work together to achieve peace, equality and sustainability,

Featuring

The Goals and
Human Rights

The United Nations Association's Aurelie Ngo and Moorissa Tjokro; Sita Ranchod-Nilsson, Director of Emory University's Institute for Developing Nations; and Ruhi Rahman, Community Engagement Fellow with UNICEF, will provide an overview of the new Sustainable Development Goals and discuss how the goals affect human rights, particularly with regard to women, peace and security. Additional speakers TBA.

Students' Reading
Of the Goals

Students from Atlanta-area universities and high schools will participate in a reading of the 17 Global Goals, followed by a Q&A led by our moderator.

Lighting the Way
to the future

Faith leaders from the community, including Pastor Michael Wortham from Ebenezer Baptist Church, will lead the attendees in a blessing of the goals by phone light, held outside The Center next to the Nelson Mandela and Margaret Mead water sculptures.
